Brand Foundations: Explorations

Payward is the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, xStocks, Breakout and a growing portfolio of financial products. This exploration looks at how the Payward master brand could evolve while remaining closely connected to its existing identity.

What I did: Brand foundations, creative direction, campaign development and art direction.

Applications: Digital, social, web, event environments, credentials and OOH.

Evolving the existing system.

The first direction builds directly from Payward’s restrained black-and-white palette, editorial typography and language around open, programmable financial rails. A more expressive campaign layer brings new energy without changing the underlying identity.

Global markets? Off the rails. This one isn’t.

A campaign layer

Subtle gradients, inspired by the brands within the Payward portfolio, acknowledge the wider ecosystem without becoming dependent on any single product.

Digital to physical

The system carries the same idea across mobile, web and large-scale environments, confident, recognisable and built for global scale.

A coherent expression

Campaign language adapts easily across social, events and branded touchpoints, while keeping Payward’s core identity intact.

Portfolio as a visual system

The second direction builds on Payward’s lighter editorial identity, using forms and colours from Kraken, NinjaTrader and xStocks as flexible elements that reflect the portfolio while preserving each brand’s character.

One system. Multiple expressions.

Both directions tackle the same challenge: creating coherence across a growing portfolio without making every brand look the same. One evolves Payward’s existing language; the other turns the portfolio into a flexible graphic system.
